We started with one shelf and kept it that way

The shop sits on the corner of a brick street in Cohoes, a few minutes from the falls, in a building that has held one small business or another for most of a century. We opened as a plain retail counter: everyday goods at the front, a till, and one wooden shelf at the back that we filled ourselves.

That shelf is the reason this website exists. Regulars kept asking whether they could get the same box when they were not passing by, or whether we could put one aside until Saturday. Both questions have the same answer now.

So we put the shelf online. Not a catalogue, not a marketplace — the same single line of dietary supplements under our own label, at the same price as the sticker on the shelf, in the same three box sizes we keep behind the counter.

Everything is packed here. A box ordered on Tuesday afternoon is taped shut and labelled on Wednesday morning, and if you would rather not wait on the post, you can tell us to leave it at the register and collect it yourself. Two of us do the packing between serving at the counter, which is why the cut-off is 4pm and why nothing goes out on a Sunday.

Where the bottles come from

We do not make capsules in the back room, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Our bottles are filled for us to our own specification by a contract manufacturer in an FDA-registered facility that works to current Good Manufacturing Practice, then shipped here in cases and sold under our label.

Each delivery arrives with a lot number and a best-before date, both of which are stamped on the base of the bottle you receive. We keep the paperwork for every lot at the counter. If you want to know which lot your box came from, email the order number and we will look it up.

How we talk about what we sell

We write shelf tags, not promises. A tag says what is in the bottle, how many capsules it holds, what one serving is and what it costs. It does not say what the product will do for you, because a dietary supplement is not a medicine and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

If a question needs a clinician, we will say so plainly and send you to your own healthcare professional. That is a limit we keep on purpose, and it applies to everything we write, including the messages on our text list.
